INSURANCE

The Association of Community Theatre and Marsh Insurance's Public Liability, Volunteer Accident and Money Insurance Policies can be found here.

Background

In 1997, ACT set up an umbrella Public Liability insurance and Volunteer Workers Personal Accident cover for amateur theatre. In 2000 we added a 'Money' policy.

The scheme has helped amateur theatre companies in all States and Territories in Australia save thousands of dollars over the years.

In order for you to take out any of these insurance policies, your group, if based in NSW, ACT, SA, or NT, must be a financial member of the Association of Community Theatre. Groups based in QLD, VIC, TAS, or WA must be a member of Music Theatre Victoria, Victoria Theatre Guild, ITA WA, Gold Coast Theatre Alliance or Sunshine Coast Theatre Alliance or if not one of these, must be a member of this Association.

If you need to become a membert of ACT Inc., application forms can be found by clicking on "Membership" in the Menu List on this page. (Above Left).

At the Annual General Meeting of ACT in October 2019 it was resolved that a new insurance broker be appointed and after lenghty negotiations The Association of Community Theatre Inc. announced the appointment of Marsh Pty Ltd, specialist Entertainment Insurance brokers, as the endorsed broker for the Association’s insurance program for 2020 and beyond.

After careful consideration of the expiring policy offering, in comparison to the proposition presented by our brokers, Marsh, we are pleased to advise that whilst we have agreed to changing brokers, from Aon to Marsh, the underwriters who have supported the ACT Inc. community for over 15 years, still remain the same. It is our belief that it is important to have stability of underwriters who understand and specialise in our industry. Marsh is also backed by a team of Entertainment and Arts sector insurance experts with over 50 years of combined experience.

In addition to the stability of insurers, Marsh has negotiated a significant premium reduction for the main insurance policies purchased by community theatres, whilst improving the levels of coverage.

The 2020 cost of PL and VWPA insurance as a package was $210.00 less than we have paid for the same policies over the past several years.

DETAILS OF THE 3 POLICIES FOR 2023 CAN BE FOUND  here.
