A huge congratulations to Kane Wheatley (Vice-President and Life Member), nominee for Inner West Citizen of the Year 2026 for his work in accessibility and Auslan-interpreted theatre, and James Worner (Committee Member and Life Member), recipient of the 2026 Amy Large Senior Volunteer of the Year Award for his incredible contribution to costumes and behind-the-scenes support at Inner West Theatre Company.
Recognised at tonight’s Inner West Council Community Awards, both Kane and James represent the very best of community theatre: generosity, creativity, passion and a deep commitment to building a welcoming and inclusive arts community.
From championing Auslan-interpreted performances and improving accessibility for Deaf and hard of hearing audiences, to the countless hours spent creating costumes, supporting productions and helping bring our shows to life, their contribution to IWTC and the wider Inner West community has been extraordinary.
We are incredibly proud to celebrate this well-deserved recognition. Congratulations, Kane and James!
