Roslyn English

Ros English has been involved with Gosford Musical Society for more than 30 years…

In the Spotlight: Roslyn English

Since joining Gosford Musical Society (GMS) in 1985 as a Musical Director, Ros English has been a pillar of community theatre on the Central Coast. Over a career spanning nearly 40 years, Ros has worn nearly every theatrical hat — from rehearsal pianist to pit musician, from Musical Director to President.

Ros’s musical direction credits are extensive and diverse, having led the orchestra for CATS, My Fair Lady, Jekyll & Hyde, Oliver, Seussical the Musical, Crazy for You, Cabaret, Mame, and many more. She’s been equally hands-on offstage — sewing costumes, spotlighting, assisting backstage, and even selling programs in the foyer.

A mentor to countless young musicians and conductors, Ros’s impact on theatre is matched only by her generosity of time and spirit. From the pit to the presidency, Ros has helped GMS — and the broader Central Coast theatre community — thrive.
